Utopias are useful texts that can help us adequately deal with reality. Especially with the positive designs of better societies, we can learn what we want – we can experiment with them and find out if we are really as innovative, creative and emancipatory as we would like to see.
Peter Seyferth introduces us to philosophical reasons for utopian thinking, mentioning one or two examples from more than 500 years of utopia, from Thomas More to today’s science fiction.
12:45 Mixed Multi-Media Talent-Show @Zentrum neue Technologien
The new multidisciplinary talent show for kids and families!
Your son translates the breakfast cereal into Klingon?
The daughter ties her ponytail like a DNA helix? You believe THAT is just the beginning?
Right! Now take your Elvish manual aside and see if one of your children has sent his home-made fighting robot to the supermarket for shopping …! Well, you already hear the screams … do not worry, take it with you … and … bring it to us!
Where? Well to us: At the 6th Munich Science & Fiction Festival we now have a show for special children! What you did not learn in school and no one ever wanted to teach you – what the kids just taught themselves … from heart to heart …, to the joy of experimenting and learning, they are allowed to show to our jury for 2 to 5 minutes. In the unique talent show ‘Sci-fi got Talent’ – for big and small kids. Whether you want to perform your very own sci-fi talent, dance, sing, play, show, project, grunt or shine out – that’s up to you! Whatever sci-fi talent is in you or your kiddo, beam it out!
Show it to us!
13:00 - 17:00 Literature Workshop @Kosmos Café
We cordially invite you to participate in our workshop, which is all about your perspective.
Using the short story “Omelas” by Ursula Le Guin, we explore utopias, dystopias and eutopias so that you can decide for yourself where you place the story. Together, in groups or alone, we create new endings for the story, which will later be presented on the side of the Science Fiction Festival Munich. How you can get involved is up to your creativity. We provide a pen, paper and also laptops/tablets, but you are also welcome to express yourself with photos, videos or something completely different. The short story “Omelas” is provided too. We look forward to creating a new piece of future with you.
13:00 - 17:00 Marc Cocktails @Kosmos Café
An extraterrestrial speciality is already expanding your kitchen today: Marco Loh has developed a unique mineral mix, matching the composition of the planet Mars.
The ingredients and their quantities have been developed from the original Mars Mars Mission literature. Bottom-up!
